Futurebuild 2025: Exploring the Impact Behind a Greener Built Future

Updated: Apr 1

If you're looking to understand where the construction industry is headed—and want to stay ahead of the curve—Futurebuild is the place to be. Held every March in London, this event is far more than just another construction or materials expo. Futurebuild exists to challenge, to inspire, and to drive meaningful change across the built environment—all in pursuit of a more sustainable future.

Now in its 20th year, Futurebuild has firmly positioned itself as a leading platform for innovation in the sector. As a company that builds bridges between the UK and China in sustainable construction materials, Arcas & Callisto Consulting (A&C) was proud to take part once again in this annual celebration of green building progress.

Celebrating 20 Years of Impact

The theme for this year was “Impact”, marking two decades of Futurebuild’s contributions to shaping a greener, smarter construction industry. Over the years, the event has remained focused on three core goals: promoting sustainability, pushing the boundaries of innovation, and fostering collaboration across the sector.

As climate targets tighten and the pressure to decarbonise grows, Futurebuild has evolved into a vital platform where real conversations happen, meaningful solutions are showcased, and industry leaders gather to share knowledge and align on the future of construction.

RECONMATIC: Pioneering Circularity in Construction Waste Management

One of the key highlights was supporting the University of Salford in presenting the RECONMATIC project, part of the EU Horizon Europe programme.

RECONMATIC focuses on creating automated, digital solutions for managing construction and demolition waste (CDW). The aim? To reduce environmental impact, minimise waste generation, and enable high-value reuse through smart data and systems.

The project is currently delivering key outputs, including policy assessments across the EU, UK, and China, and the development of a digital information management system that integrates BIM, IoT and blockchain. These tools support material flow analysis (MFA) and are designed to cover the entire building lifecycle, addressing the current gaps in CDW management and decision-making. You can find more information on the RECONMATIC website.

Entire Supply Chain under One Roof

This year’s show was divided into five content zones:

  • Buildings

  • Energy

  • Materials

  • Placemaking

  • FutureX Digital Disruptors

Alongside two major conferences:

  • Futurebuild Arena

  • National Retrolfit Conference

From new design thinking to material innovation and smarter cities, Futurebuild brought the entire supply chain under one roof to spark fresh connections and drive the sustainable transformation of our built environment.

Bringing China’s Low-Carbon Cement Alternatives to the UK

Futurebuild also provided us with a valuable opportunity to introduce two low-carbon cement alternative products from China to the UK market—GGBS (Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag) and Silica Fume.

Both are crucial for reducing carbon emissions in concrete while improving strength and durability. With China’s scale of steel production, the supply of GGBS is reliable, cost-effective, and consistent with international standards. China is also one of the world’s leading producers of high-quality silica fume.

By sourcing from China, we’re not only helping the UK construction sector decarbonise—we’re also making sustainability more accessible and scalable.

At A&C, we partner with reliable manufacturers and trusted supply chains to ensure quality and on-time delivery every time.

We hope that by next March, we’ll have even more exciting results from the RECONMATIC project to share with the industry. At the same time, we look forward to seeing our low-carbon cement alternative products reach more like-minded partners and open up new market opportunities.

Here’s to another year of progress, collaboration, and impact in sustainable construction. See you at Futurebuild 2026!
