On May 7th, Arcas & Callisto Consulting (A&C) took part in the RECONMATIC project's first open day in the UK, held at the University of Salford. The event showcased the progress of our project in automated solutions for managing construction demolition waste to industry professionals, academics, and students.
The RECONMATIC Open Day began with morning presentations followed by four parallel workshops in the afternoon. The main discussions focused on creating new integrated systems for various digital technologies (such as IoT, blockchain, and machine learning) to facilitate stakeholder collaboration, traceability, and decision-making processes related to the construction waste cycle throughout the whole building's lifespan.
The presentations featured:
- DIMS system integrating Industry 4.0 technologies for improved waste management.
- WASTEie information management for demolition waste, promoting recycling and reuse.
- A new platform capable of integrating AI, CAD, and AR to automatically draw 3D digital models for EoSL buildings based on paper drawings.
- Use NIR, 2D, as well as 3D to classify waste and operate sorting robotic arm.
- Predictive tools for waste flow analysis based on historical data.
Afternoon workshops delved into digital twins, waste information systems, datasets, and flow predictions.
The event ended with networking and discussions, receiving positive feedback from attendees. The project aims to further explore and address challenges in digitizing circular construction tools while inviting more industry participation for a sustainable future.
